Responsible gambling
At Winners Enclosure Bookmakers, your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. Gambling should be fun, and we provide clear tools and guidance to help you stay in control.
Gambling safety from the regulator
The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) publishes information on gambling safety: the signs that gambling is becoming a problem, how to get help, and the protections you have.

The Safe Gambling page in your account shows your own activity, so you can see what you are spending and how long you are spending here without having to work it out.
- Staked and returned: What you staked and what was paid back to you over the last 30 days, with a chart for each day.
- Bets placed: How many bets you placed, day by day.
- Time on site: How long you have had the site open while logged in, over the last 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days.
- Amounts paid: What you have staked over the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 3 months and 12 months, with betting and lotto shown apart.
- Statements: Every movement on your account for any dates in the last 12 months, from the Reporting page.
- Reminders: While you are on the site, a reminder of your last 24 hours every 60 minutes, or every 15 or 30 if you choose; a reminder of each 7 days; and a statement every 30 days, kept in your account and sent by email. How reminders work
Beside each figure an information button says whether the law requires us to show it, and under which section of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024.
We have written down exactly how each figure is worked out: which bets count, on which day, what happens when a bet is voided, and how time on site is measured.
Our safer gambling tools
You set these yourself, on the Safe Gambling page in your account.
- Spending limit: Cap the total you stake between now and a date you choose. A bet that would take you over it is not accepted. You can lower it or extend it at any time. It cannot be raised, ended early or removed until it ends, by you or by us. This is the limit described in section 164 of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024.
- Deposit limit: Limit what you can deposit over a day, a week or a month. You can lower your limit at any time. You cannot raise it until 24 hours after you last changed it. A deposit limit caps the money you lodge in your account. It does not cap what you stake from a balance you already hold, so it is not the spending limit described in section 164 of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024. That is the spending limit above.
- Betting access rules: Choose the times of day when you can bet, or block betting for a range of dates. Once set, a rule cannot be changed for 24 hours.
- Self‑exclusion: Take a break from 24 hours up to a year, or exclude yourself permanently. When a break ends, betting stays closed until you confirm that you want to return.
We also look out for you:
- Safer gambling check‑ins: At set points we ask you to complete a short questionnaire about your gambling, and at higher levels we pause betting or arrange to speak with you. The exact points are in When we check in with you below.
- Stake & liability checks: We apply automated validations and liability checks to reduce risky betting behaviour.
When we check in with you
These are the points at which we contact you or ask something of you. Each is set off automatically by the rule shown, not by a member of staff deciding to.
These check‑ins are our own safer gambling measures. No section of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 requires them. The Act will require us to give you prescribed information about excessive gambling and the supports available (section 173), once the regulator sets what that information is.
As your total stakes grow
The levels are shown in order, not to scale. They are on the total of your stakes since you opened your account. The full list, including the check-ins that do not depend on your stakes, is in the table below.
| When | What happens | Does it stop you betting? |
|---|---|---|
| You open an account | We email you our Safe Gambling Tips about 10 minutes after you sign up, and again 7 days later. | No. |
| Once in each quarter of the year | We ask you to complete the Safer Gambling questionnaire, unless you have already completed one in that quarter. The request appears on your Safe Gambling page and beside your bet slip. | No. You can choose to do it later. |
| Your total stakes reach €1,000 | We ask you to complete the questionnaire. | No. |
| Your total stakes reach €1,500 | If you have not yet completed the questionnaire, we tell you that betting will stop when your total stakes reach €2,000. | No. |
| Your total stakes reach €2,000 | Betting is paused and we ask you to complete the questionnaire again. | Yes, until you complete the questionnaire. Completing it lifts the pause straight away. The pause also lifts by itself if your total falls back below €2,000, for example when a bet is voided or refused. |
| Your total stakes reach €5,000 | Our team is alerted, and a member of our team will contact you to talk about your gambling. | Not automatically. Our team may pause your betting until the call has taken place. |
| Our team reads your questionnaire answers | If your answers concern us, we may pause your betting and ask to speak with you. | Yes, if we pause it, until we have spoken with you. |
How your total stakes are counted
- It is the total of every stake since you opened your account. It is not a figure for a week, a month or a year.
- Bets that were cancelled or voided, and bets we refused, are left out. A bet waiting for us to accept it counts while it waits.
- It is checked after every bet you place, and again each night.
- The total falls only when a bet is voided or refused. If it falls back below €2,000, a pause lifts by itself. A pause set by our staff does not.
- Completing the questionnaire at one level does not exempt you from the next.
- The full counting rules are on How your activity figures are calculated.
The bar at the foot of the betting screen
When you are signed in, a bar at the bottom of the betting screen links to your Safe Gambling page and to the gambling safety advice of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI).
- It is shown to everyone. It does not appear because of anything you have done, and it does not mean we are concerned about your gambling. When we have a reason to check in with you, we tell you directly, as set out above.
- It is not an advert. It does not promote any bet or offer.
- It is there because the law asks for it. Section 173(3) of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 requires the safer gambling information that GRAI prescribes to be displayed prominently on an operator's home page. GRAI's draft regulations name its Gambling Safety page as that information. Those regulations have not been made yet; we show the link now rather than wait.
- We link to GRAI rather than copy its advice, so you always see GRAI's current version.
On a phone, an open bet slip sits over the bar while you place a bet. The same links are always at the top of this page and in the footer of every page.
Staying in control
Keep gambling enjoyable by setting boundaries and using the tools above:
- Avoid Chasing Losses: Gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
- Set Limits: Decide your time and money limits before you start and stick to them.
- Check Your Figures: Look at what you have staked and your time on site regularly, not only when something feels wrong.
- Use Our Tools: A spending limit, a deposit limit, betting access rules and self‑exclusion help you stay in control.
Underage gambling prevention
We take underage gambling prevention seriously. It is illegal for individuals under 18 to gamble on our platform.
- Age Verification: All accounts undergo age verification, including automated document checks where applicable.
- Physical ID Verification: We may require valid government‑issued ID if automated checks fail or for added assurance.
- Access by Invitation: Access is by invitation to further reduce underage access risk.
- Ongoing Compliance: We keep our controls aligned with legal and regulatory requirements.
